To best support you or your child’s music learning journey, we’ve put together a set of guidelines. These are particularly key if the student is pursuing Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada studies, which involves more performance, competitions, examinations, and checkpoints to meet along the way. Not all students may choose a Conservatory path, but as in anything, practice makes progress. Here are some helpful guidelines.
Lesson Expectations
- Arrive on time and prepared with all required books, materials, and

- Neatly trimmed nails help in playing your instrument (piano, guitar, ukulele) a lot easier.
- Scheduling questions or ongoing concerns should be directed to our front desk or studio management.
- Each teacher has their own teaching style and practice expectations. Please keep open communication with your teacher about practising at home, your goals, and what you would like to learn.
Practice Guidelines
- Practice expectations will vary depending on your age and level, but learning an instrument does require a time commitment. Your teacher will guide you on what is appropriate for you.
- You’ll always be sent home with a practice page. Follow it closely for the best results and to stay on track between lessons.
- The best way to support a practice routine is to choose a consistent time, keep sessions positive and manageable, and celebrate progress along the way!
