Program

Sonata Piano Studio welcomes beginner music students of all ages. Every student is unique and therefore learns differently. Through the first weeks of lessons, the new student is exposed to different methods of practical learning. Together the instructor and the student will find and build a program that caters to the student’s needs.

Students are encouraged, but not obliged, to perform Conservatory Exams as well as participate in the Windsor-Essex Kiwanis Music Festival, and perform at studio recitals and masterclasses

Practice and Parental Support

Students are responsible for practicing their full assignment and preparing for the lesson that has been assigned to them. Learning the necessary skills to become proficient an instrument will not occur by simply going to music lessons. It takes committed practice on a daily basis during the week to put skills covered at the lesson into motion and witness successful progress.

Especially for beginners, parental support is an extremely important factor in musical training. Parents who help their young children with practicing at home are welcome to attend lessons, however their attendance is not mandatory. Siblings should not be brought to the lesson unless that are able to sit quietly and not distract either the student or parent.

Parents are asked to remain involved in music lessons throughout the year by regularly checking student assignment books for comments, notes, important dates, etc. Parents are encouraged to contact the teacher when any questions or concerns arise.

“Just remember, with commitment to learning the art of music comes the decision to practice on a regular basis. Consistent progress results in pride, satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment!”
